Not long ago, I watched my son run one of the best races of his senior cross-country season. He finished strong, hit a season-best time, and looked great doing it. But when I asked him how it felt, he said something that stuck with me: “It felt okay… but I know there was something left inside me I didn’t access.” That idea, the sense that there’s always a deeper gear available to us, applies just as much to agents navigating today’s real estate market as it does to high-school athletes.
When the market isn’t cooperating, it’s easy to shrug and say, “Well, it is what it is.” But if the market dictated everything, every agent’s business would look identical. It doesn’t. Results vary because we vary; how we show up, the effort we bring, the value we deliver, and the relationships we choose to strengthen. There is always more potential, more capacity, and more opportunity inside each of us than we tend to access in the moment.
One of my mentors once asked me, “How long are you going to wait to live the life you deserve?” It’s a question worth asking in our businesses as well.
